Is the photo on one side or two?
All Be A Bag products have an image on either side of the bag.
Can I have a different photo on either side of my bag?
Yes, you can choose to have a different photo on the other side of Handbags, Wash bags and Makeup bags. There is an additional cost of £25
What are the preferred specifications for digital photos?
Our preferred format is a postcard sized scan with a minimum resolution of 300DPI and saved in TIFF format. However this is not the only accessible format. We can use JPEGs (earlier in this document you refer to jpg format) and images of lesser quality, but the crispness and clarity of the printed image will be affected to a certain degree. If we feel that the quality of the image is too poor to be able to make a beautiful handbag we will contact you to discuss the problem.
If I send you a photo will it be returned to me?
Yes. Your photo(s) will be returned to you with your new Be A Bag
How long will it take to get my finished picture bag?
Once we receive your order and photo, goods are usually ready in 8-12 weeks
Selecting a suitable Image
Photos must not be too small (passport photos for example cannot be accepted) or blurred. Very small or blurred images when blown up to fit even a small evening bag do not print well. Photos larger than A4 size cannot be accepted.
The Lima, The Paros, The Shopper work best with portrait photos. The Paros is almost square in shape so a standard 15cm by 10cm portrait photos will be cropped to fit (see sample bag).
The Rio, the Weekend, the Washbag and the Mini Washbags work with landscape photos only.
The more space around the subject of the photo, the better. This gives us room to play with to make the image fit the best way possible. Photos where the subject touches the edge of the photo might result in some of the subject being lost.
Plainer backgrounds where the subject is the obvious focus of the photograph look the best.
Colours may vary in printing. This is especially important when considering trim colours.
For the Rio, the Paros, the Shopper and the Weekend, it is essential to leave enough room above or around the subject of the photo for the handle holes (please see examples on the following pages).
Also, please bear in mind that an Anya Hindmarch logo will appear on the centre top or bottom of the bag (depending on which works best with your image).
When sending us a digital image please scan your image at 300dpi (for images 10cm x 15cm or larger). If the image is a bit smaller it is best to scan it at a higher dpi increasing upwards in 100dpi increments. If we receive a good quality scan, then we can produce a nice bag. Poorly scanned images may be rejected due to poor quality when printing image on fabric. We would then request a new image from you. Images from a digital camera should be saved as jpg but no less than 3.0 megapixells.
If there is anything important that you want showing on the bag, please make sure this is in the cropping instructions. E.g. If there is a bird in the sky at the top of the image that you want to appear on the bag, then state that this is an important part of image. This way we will crop from the bottom if necessary to keep the bird in the image. Also, in cropping instructions please state things like - remove red eye, remove mark, crop from bottom or top, AH logo at the top or bottom, etc. If the customer’s photo has a date on it or border, we will remove this. But if you do not want it to be removed, please tell us in the cropping instructions.
It is impossible to make a high quality bag from a poor quality image. So it is very important to provide a good image. It is best to have the original photo, ONLY quality printouts of images can be used. Poor print out on low quality paper will produce a bad image once scanned.
2. Images we cannot accept
Be a Bag is a photographic promotion and not to be used as a marketing tool for other companies or individuals, including logos, artwork, advertising or similar.
Photos (including private body parts) which might cause offence will be refused for legal reasons.
Each customer must own copyright for their photograph or have obtained the relevant permission beforehand. This is particularly important if any customer brings in a photo of a celebrity or similar. In most circumstances, we will refuse to make the bag.
No magazine/newspaper photos or images can be used. The paper these are printed on cannot be scanned to produce a clear image.
3. Trim Colours
Please note that black and white images don’t always look best with a black trim. You may want to consider pale blue, natural or red trims.
If you are trying to match a trim colour to a colour in your photo please be advised that the colours of the final printed image may not be exactly the same as those in the original photo.
